Kate and I are Paris people

Kate and I just returned from an 8 day trip to London and Paris. There are some places you visit, explore, and then happily return home. And then there are places you fall in love with, and leaving is hard to do.

Despite the fact that I was born in London, and that I don't speak a word of French, Paris is one of those cities that I didn't want to part with. Paris has all the best elements of New York City, with an added layer of culture and history.

We loved the food, wine, cheese, transporation system, and how walkable the city is.

We loved the culture. There were cafes on every block. You didn't need to order specific wine, the house wine was great. Where's a good place to eat? Everywhere. You can't go wrong.

We had some great dinners: L'atelier De Joel Robuchon, Les Cocottes, Thoumieux, and L'ardoise. Also confirmed that the best croissants are at Pierre Herme (and we tried plenty!). Thanks to all our friends for the recommendations.

Many, many more pictures to come.

Kate and I had a great time in Vancouver for Helena's wedding. Highlights:

It was a super short trip but we definitely want to go back soon. The city is beautiful, clean, with great food all around.

Kate and I are engaged! I proposed between the grapevines at Goosecross Cellars in Napa

I am the luckiest guy in the world. Sometimes I can't even believe how, after 27 years of basically being alone, and thousands of miles distancing us, I found my Kate. We met in such a perfect situation: a New Year's Eve party in New York City, in a room full of our closest friends.

After we met, we fell in love quickly, Kate moved to San Francisco with me, and now we're joined at the hip. Kate is not just my girlfriend, she is my best friend. We can't stand to be apart even for a moment. I am so happy knowing that I will be with Kate for the rest of my life, and we will be together for all our life experiences.

Thanks to everyone at Goosecross Cellars for making the day so magical. Especially Nancy, thank you so much for going out of your way to take care of us. We are lifelong wine club members, and we look forward to visiting you guys whenever we are in Napa. You will always be a part of our memories and stories.

Random photos from the summer in NYC

I'm almost caught up posting photos from this summer (I didn't get around to doing these when I was in Boston). Here is a set of photos from a weekend I was back in New York City. I'm guessing it was about 60 degrees warmer then than it is now.

Pictures include: lunch at Habana Outpost, the Brooklyn Museum, and a phenomenal dinner at Tabla.

I LOVE Tabla. You could call it French Indian, or French with Indian influences, or simply fancy Indian. We got the tasting menu and everything was delicious.
