Amazon will be the largest company in the world and the 1st Trillion Dollar Company from @alexdmoore blog

Amazon has been at the forefront of all innovations in the ecommerce space and has lead the way with service. They are the only company to achieve worldwide scale and continue to expand their product offerings

Can you imagine Wal-Mart's board in good old Bentonville, Arkansas trying to figure out what the hell Amazon's 500 computer scientists are cooking up at a given time? The thought is hilarious.

There will always be a need for brick and mortar stores as it's fun to touch products with our own hands and get a feel for their aesthetic value in person, but more and more the trend of everyone buying everything online will continue. The only thing then that can stop Amazon is some sort of catastrophic future where the world is more concerned about toxic levels of CO2 or finding it's next meal then the new sexy digital camera it's going to buy. In either future though Amazon will be huge. Maybe they will have the lowest priced CO2 filter breathing machines and canned soup delivered to your door.

I agree 100%. I've always been bullish on Amazon, almost took a job there in 2002 instead of Apple. Amazon is going to lead the way in online sales, which will one day be ALL sales.

No more overpaying for stuff at Sears, Comcast, Bank of America, Best Buy, or even iTunes. Soon, every single dollar spent will flow efficiently through Amazon, and they will take their tiny cut and count their pennies to trillions.

Buy used books and CDs on Amazon for a penny

It's no secret that I love Amazon.com. I was having a great discussion with my dad about the financial collapse. We went from banks to mortgages to consumers to retail to Amazon.com, one of the few companies doing well (better than most) in these though times.

Amazon.com is the place to buy almost all goods. You can read reviews, and pretty much know you are paying the lowest price. There's usually no tax and free shipping. It blows me away that some old school brick and mortar stores still exist. For example, when my mom was shopping for an TV, we picked a model on Amazon that cost $1700 shipped. We went to Best Buy to see it in person, $2k plus tax and delivery. Then at Sears, $2300 plus tax and delivery!!

Who buys stuff at Sears anymore! It's unbelievable. You pay more, and probably get worse service and a worse guarantee. Even if you don't have time to comparison shop, just do ONE THING. Check the reviews and price at Amazon.com, then do as you wish. It's not that hard!

And now for a little secret:

If you are looking to purchase any media that is not a new release, buy it used. The average cost of a popular used item? $0.01 plus shipping. A penny. There is such a high stock of popular items that places are willing to sell them for next to nothing. Shipping is $3-4 so they just make a bit off that. Some examples:

Green Day - Dookie. $10.99 brand new. $0.01 plus $2.98 shipping used
Kite Runner. $10.20 brand new. $0.01 plus $3.98 shipping used

I basically buy all my books and DVDs like this. Old editions of programming books and travel guides are also a penny. And sometimes when I want to buy music from Amazon or iTunes, I'll get the used CD for even less! As long as it's not new or rare, you can get it super cheap. It's definitely at least worth searching for. Enjoy!

Will Amazon Lose Sales Because It Collects New York Taxes?

I was about to order something from Amazon.com but seeing the sales tax added made me hesitate. It's no longer a mindless decision to buy from Amazon.

Plus, if I'm buying Apple products I'm going to buy directly from Apple now since I'd rather Amazon NOT get a cut of the sale (assuming the price to me is the same).

Got some good stuff from amazon

Corn nuts. Nutri Grain cereal bars. Lots of Triscuits.

I also bought some Digestive Advantage lactose intolerance pills. Instead of eating a pill when you eat dairy, like with Lactaid, you just take a Digestive Advantage pill once per day and never think about. The reviews on Amazon were pretty spectacular so it seems like it works well!

I love Amazon.com
