Random company idea: LawHub: Social law and electronic signatures
I'm buried in legal paperwork right now. There's so much to read, print, sign, scan, email, and file. It's ridiculous. So why doesn't someone create LawHub?
- Lawyers can create documents and put them online using a license that allows open use, but no liability on the author
- Anyone can check out these documents, modify them, submit fixes to "master", fork them, make variations, etc
- Once you want to sign something, you lock down a version of the document and send it to parties you need signatures from
- Documents can be signed electronically, securely, in a matter that is later trusted in a court of law
- Read access can be given for these documents to lawyers, accountants, and others, all through an easy, secure web interface
Our lawyers are awesome. I love working with them. But a system like this could save us all a lot of time and money. I'm guessing the liability issue is the killer here. Do you trust the documents you get, and do others feel comfortable to share theirs?
