I love Apple's product integration

Earlier today I was listening to music on my Apple Hifi in the living room. The music was streaming wirelessly from my Macbook Pro in my bedroom via Airtunes to my Airport Express which is connected to the HiFi. I purchased the music from the iTunes music store. And I was controlling it from my couch on my iPhone using the Remote application that my friend Al wrote. And it all works flawlessly.

And from Engadget, "According to Jason Snell from Macworld, you can use your iPhone earbud button to control iTunes (pause / play, back and forward), and the microphone can be used as a... microphone." (on the new macbook pro/macbook)

Amazing. I love Apple. They are so smart!

Apple customer service is good, bad, and great

Long story short:

Call Apple. Get to a human within 20 seconds. yay

Sachin: My airport express is busted
Dude: It's 4 months out of warranty
Sachin: it's been broken since we got it. etc etc etc. wah wah wah
Dude: sorry, it's out of warranty
Sachin: I worked at Apple. wah wah wah
Dude: Sorry

Sachin: I want to speak to a supervisor
[on hold for 10 minutes]

Dude: ok we made an exception

sweet, they are replacing my busted airport express (which is actually a great product. i LOVE airtunes). Never take no for an answer. Always push back.

Update: My new airport express showed up less than 24 hours after the phone call, and it works great!
